Mount Veeder Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

I have never been able to offer today’s wine at this low of a price before and it is too good for any Napa Cabernet lover to pass up.  Even if your cellar is loaded to the brim, this is worth making room for.  The wine is Mount Veeder Winery 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, and with the winery’s established legacy in Napa Valley, coupled along with the discount of 31% off and 95pts from Suckling; 93pts from Wine Spectator and 92+pt rating from Parker’s Wine Advocate (as well as a spot on the cover of the Wine Spectator ) and from the excellent 2018 vintage that Deecanter Magazine has hailed it as one of the top vintages of the last 25 years.This is a no brainer buy and a Napa Cab lover’s feast.  I am salivating while writing this.

Mount Veeder Winery is a dramatic estate, founded in 1973 with three vineyards carved high in the hillsides of the Mayacamas Mountains, overlooking southern Napa Valley.  The property is 121 acres, mostly forest and brush, out of which only 47 are planted to vine.  Mount Veeder is usually the last to harvest in Napa Valley.  The result is fruit with highly concentrated flavors – big, bold and brambly – a Cab lover’s feast.  Mount Veeder was the first winery in Napa to plant all five red Bordeaux varietals in the same vineyard.  The winemaking torch has been passed to the great Janet Myers, who graduated from UC Davis back in 1995, then going on to work her first harvest for Robert Mondavi, the Antinori Family, and Louis M. Martini, all consider

ed pioneers of their craft.  She has learned from the absolute best, and has brought all of her expertise and knowledge to Mount Veeder.  This wine is a shoe-in for Wine Spectator’s Top 100. This is a tremendous buy and I highly recommend grabbing it now while it lasts.  This wine has it all.

Plenty of blueberry and chocolate aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied with round, fresh tannins. Lot of blue fruit and walnuts. Then crushed stones with the fruit at the finish. Flavorful, yet not overdone. Give this four or five years to come around. 95pts Suckling

A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet-purple color. The nose absolutely sings of warm blackcurrants, black cherries and mulberries plus fragrant suggestions of chocolate box, lilacs and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with energetic, crunchy black fruit flavors, framed by ripe, fine-grained tannins and loads of freshness, finishing long and perfumed.
