With its blackberry patch aromatics followed by hints of raspberry preserves and accents of leather, there’s a ripe, pure fruit quality to this stunning new vintage. Generous layers of red fruit flavors fill the entry while subtle cocoa and baking spice undertones linger on the midpalate. Resolved tannins enhance the almost-velvety texture throughout the entire wine, and fresh botanical notes add vibrance to a finish that is at once long, luscious, and lifted.

This is a fantastic buy for hard core Cult Napa Cab fans. Bella Union that has been put together by the folks at Far Niente and Nickel and Nickle and made by the same Winemakers. Owners are longtime friends and partners Beth Nickel, Erik Nickel, Jeremy Nickel, Dirk Hampson and Larry Maguire. They have been making Cabernet for 30 years in Napa starting with the rejuvenation of Far Niente in 1979 and specializing in single vineyard Cabs with Nickel and Nickel in 1997.

Bella Union is in the heart of Rutherford and is a nod to the history of Bella Oaks Lane which was known as the Bella Union Roadway in the 1880’s. Some of Napa’s finest producers are on Belle Oaks Lane including Staglin and Opus One. The 25 acre vineyard is just about all Cab with a little Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Rutherford is considered by many to be the heart of Napa, Mondavi, Inglenook, BV Vineyards, historic producers, vineyards and wines. With their thirty years of crafting Cabernet in Napa Valley across appellations as diverse as Oakville, Howell Mountain, Stags Leap District and St. Helena, has helped us to intimately know the very best sites—each with its defining characteristics—from which to create Bella Union Cabernet.
