2010 Herb Lamb Cabernet Herb Lamb Vineyard
2010 Herb Lamb Cabernet Herb Lamb Vineyard This Cabernet is refined and drinking beautifully. The wine shows beautiful crème de cassis, crushed rock, bay leaf and tapenade. The spectacular perfumed bouquet leads to a rich, concentrated, full bodied palate, awesome intensity, integrated tannin with great balance and purity. The wine can be drunk now and over the next 20 years. Rivals the finest Napa Cab has to offer, a truly remarkable wine. One of the great wines I have tasted this year and as Cult and exclusive at it gets.
The Herb Lamb Vineyard is one of the great Cabernet vineyards in Napa. Colgin makes a Herb Lamb Vineyard Cabernet and so does Tor Kenward. Herb Lamb was initially made famous by the Cabernet Sauvignons produced by Colgin Vineyards starting in 1992, when Helen Turley was producing the wines from this terroir. I have been able to secure a tiny allocation of the 2010 Herb Lamb Cabernet Herb Lamb Vineyards. The wine is an absolute masterpiece, the time in the bottle has electrified the wine. . The vineyard is a mere 7 acres in the foothills of Howell Mountain. The rocky hillside, ranging from 600 to 800 feet in elevation, was cleared and wide terraces were graded in preparation for planting 25 years ago. Yields are less than 2 tons per acre. In 1997 they decided to make their first wine with Mike Trujillo as wine maker, one of the best. This is one of the greatest Cabs I have tried this year, truly collectible, impossible to get, from the buy 2010 vintage. As good as Cab gets! The wine is in a great place now!
