2015 Pertinace Barolo
2015 Pertinace Barolo Garnet ruby red. with orange shades. The aromas of this 2015 wine are intense and persistant, with wild berries, spices and licorice. Soft and velvety with good tannins and long finish.
93 James Suckling: Another Barbaresco with some impressive ripeness, but also balance. Glazed cherries, roasted herbs and strawberry compote all come to the party. Full-bodied and very serious with an underlying density to the robust tannins. The finish, for all its length, is quite nuanced, too. Drink from 2023.

Founded in 1973 by Mario Barbero, the Winery was a winegrowers cooperative of thirteen members from the Treiso area. Their innovative, ground-breaking idea was to create a business that could first grow superior grapes and then put a great new brand onto the market, with one eye on quality and the other on the tastes of the evolved consumer
They decided to concentrate of Nebbiolo grapes to make high quality Barbaresco, bottling and marketing it under the name Cantina Vignaioli Elvio Pertinace. A constant increase in production and sales led to the winery buildings being enlarged and equipped with state of the art technology in the Eighties, followed by a packaging department in the Nineties.
Northern Italy
In the region of Piedmont in Northern Italy, the Nebbiolo grape stands high above the rest. It has two personalities—the dark, brutish wines of Barolo and the elegant, striking wines of Barbaresco.
These Barbaresco wines are often light in color, but filled with tart berry flavors mixed with flavors of dry earth, spices, and potpourri.
The Nebbiolo grape produces powerful wines. The wines from Barbaresco are its most feminine and elegant, but they can be as exciting and exhilarating as their neighboring Barolo wines.
