2016 Bonacchi Molino del Piano Brunello di Montalcino “The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Molino del Piano is remarkably pretty, placing fruit first but in such an elegant and seductive way. Pretty strawberry and cherry dusted with sweet spice and flowery perfumes rise up from the glass. It’s silky with cooling acids and minerals lifting the expression, as tart raspberry and hints of spiced orange come forward. This is classically dry, coating the palate in remnants of primary fruit and round tannins, making for a perfectly balanced finale. Very nice.”

It comes from the Valle di Suga in the cooler Northern part of the Montalcino zone which handles the increased summer heat in the region very well and the result is wines that balance finesse and power superbly well. Superbly textured, this wine is starting to show but will age and improve with the best wines of the vintage. The price for this wine is insane for such quality. Put this in your cellar at half the price of other comparable bottlings.
