2017 Dehlinger’s Chardonnay Estate is quite racy and luscious. Orchard fruit, citrus confit, and wild flowers take on an extra level of sheer richness, while tropical accents add to the real feeling of exoticism.

The 2017 Estate Chardonnay is barrel fermented with native yeast in just over one third new French oak, then aged on the lees and bottled unfiltered to optimize texture and flavor. Aromas of lemon custard and white peach, flavors of lime zest and toasted hazel nut. Excellent length, fresh, flavorful.

Tom Dehlinger is a Russian River Valley legend, who was one of the first winemakers to put the Russian River on the map for world-class Chardonnay. His wines  are some of the finest to come out of the Russian River, rivalling the finest like Dumol, Kistler and Kosta Brown. “A pioneer.” “Ever Reliable.” “One of the early true believers in Pinot from the Russian River.” These are just some of the words of praise that wine pundits have used to describe the legendary career of winemaker Tom Dehlinger (at right). As if on a hunch, Tom purchased a tiny parcel of land in the Russian River in 1974, which was years before the region would become renowned for world-class Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.
I have just 18 cases of his spectacular Dehlinger Estate Chardonnay 2017 to offer at an awesome price of $33.99 per. This is truly a great chardonnay with superb balance; unctuous flavors and fresh acidity. The wine comes from a special eight acres that were planted between 1975 and 1988. These old vines, grown in the region’s classic goldridge series soils, are grafted to the California heritage “Wente” clone, which produces small clusters and berries and has a notable minerality and superb viscosity. The result is a rich, opulent, unfiltered Chardonnay that has superb concentration with spectacular that will give you years of drinking pleasure that develops added complexity with time.
