2017 Sartarelli Balciana
2017 Sartarelli Balciana Nice intensity with an interesting nose of ripe and tropical fruits, sweet notes of honey, linden, spicy and citrus fruit notes, licorice root and almonds. It is a very well-balanced wine in the mouth, a full-bodied wine with high alcohol content but at the same time still fresh and strongly sapid. Even a more unique wine because of its strongly persistent smell and taste with an iodate finish.
Sartarelli
The heart is from where we are going to start our story. Our grandfather Ferruccio Sartarelli had the heart of a lion but above all he had a heart of gold. A skilled and popular baker first and then an entrepreneur, he was also a benefactor and patron of institutions and was always ready to help those in need. Thanks to his resourcefulness and his pioneering spirit, in 1972, Ferruccio decided to invest in his biggest passion which was to become one of his biggest challenges, to produce a high quality Verdicchio wine.
Since he loved his wife Matilde so much, Ferruccio gave up his idea of moving to Argentina to invest in land there. He decided to spend time trying to make Verdicchio a wine of absolute excellence and this was a really big challenge as then it was just considered a mass produced table wine. This is how the courageous and passionate story of Sartarelli begins. A story which continues preserving and passing on grandfather’s values: quality, competence, tenaciousness and reliability. Only in this way can we continue to give the right importance to the wine of our land and the precious vine it comes from, one of the oldest indigenous vine varieties in Italy.
White Wine
The white wines that are made in Central Italy are not flashy or famous, but they can certainly be delicious. This area is known for making clean, light, white wines that are refreshing. You will not find many famous grapes grown in this region, but you will find some great values.
Italian white wines can be very frustrating and confusing. They do not make many wines from grapes that most people are familiar with. However, some of the local grapes that are used can make wines that are elegant, refreshing, and fun.
A lot of the really great white wines from Central Italy are going to be simple and light. They do not have a ton of strong fruit flavors, but can often produce subtly beautiful flavors of tart stone fruits, white flowers, and often almonds.
Keep your eyes open for the underrated wines of Verdicchio di Matelica or Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
