2018 Beringer Chardonnay Luminus
2018 Beringer Chardonnay Luminus; Napa Valley, California
Winemaker Notes; A lively freshness is the hallmark of Luminus, which leads with aromas of citrus and delicate white blossoms, giving way to flavors of lemon zest, butterscotch, hazelnut nougat, and nectarines, with white pear and a clove spice coming from the Hungarian oak influence. A rich, creamy mouthfeel resulting from battonage, hints of minerality and noticeable depth leave a lasting impression.
JS93 James Suckling; A fresh, lively white with sliced apples, spiced pears and hints of cream. Honeysuckle. Medium to full body. Flavorful finish. Shows mineral and cream undertones with hints on nutmeg. No malolactic. Vivid. Drink now.
Chardonnay is the world’s most famous white-wine grape and also one of the most widely planted. Although the most highly regarded expressions of the variety are those from Burgundy and California, many high-quality examples are made in Italy, Australia, New Zealand and parts of South America.
Napa Valley, an hour’s drive north of San Francisco, California, is the most famous and prestigious wine region anywhere in the New World. Although a number of grape varieties are grown in the valley’s vineyards, the area is particularly known for its Cabernet Sauvignon. The classic “Napa Cab”, the archetypal Napa Valley wine, is a rich, oak-aged red with aromas of blackcurrant, boysenberry, liquorice, vanilla and smoky, bittersweet chocolate.
Beringer is California’s longest continuously operating winery. It has become one of the largest and most distributed American labels, and is known for its range of wines, from affordable table wines to fine single-vineyard cuvées and a private reserve label.Brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer harvested their first vintage in 1876, in what has since become the St Helena AVA in Napa Valley. In 1883, Frederick built the Rhine House as his home, a Victorian mansion, and it is now the main visitor site of the winery.
