This wine absolutely sings at the price we can offer it to you. The Aubert family has been producing wines on the right bank of the Garonne River since 1750, and owns several châteaux throughout the region including the excellent Grand Cru Classe Chateau La Couspade. Today’s 2018 Chateau Abelyce is daughter Amelie Aubert personal project. Bought by the family in 2004 and is named after her two children, Abel and Alice. The Chateau neighbors the famous and expensive Chateau Monbousquet, Located in the Vignonet commune of the southern part of the Saint-Émilion appellation and the soils of this 6.2-acre vineyard consists of gravel and sandy clay. The gravel (known as graves in the region) allows for drainage and imparts minerals to the roots. The clay also is rich in nutrients. All this really lends finesse to the structure of the wine. Vines are 45 years age adding richness and concentration and with each vintage Amelie raises the bar. The 2018 vintage is superb for the money and will offer great drinking pleasure through 2030.
