This is a wine of delicacy and finesse, with notes of berries, earth and oak in a silken texture. This wine will improve in the bottle for 20 to 25 years. Pair with sophisticated dishes such as sauced meats, game and strong cheeses such as Reblochon.

Pinot Noir is the dominant red wine grape of Burgundy, now adopted (and extensively studied) in wine regions all over the world. The variety’s elusive charm has carried it to all manner of vineyards.

These extend from western Germany (as Spätburgunder) and northern Italy to Chile, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. California, Oregon and New Zealand are arguably the greatest centers for the grape outside its home territory. However great Pinot Noir is made in all of these territories.

Petite Chapelleis a Premier Cru climat within the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation of Burgundy. The vineyard lies at the base of the Côte d’Or escarpment where some of the world’s top Pinot Noir-based wines are made. Petite Chapelle Premier Cru wines are elegant, structured wines, although lack the finesse and concentration of Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Cru wines.

Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s most important negociants, both qualitatively and quantitatively, with a portfolio that covers everything from inexpensive Bourgogne and Beaujolais wines to several grand cru wines, from the Côte de Beaune to Chablis. Unsurprisingly, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay feature heavily in the portfolio.

The house was founded in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Jadot, although the first vineyard – Clos de Ursules – was purchased in the 1820s. The headquarters remains in Beaune, although vineyard holdings have increased exponentially. Louis Jadot owns land in some of Burgundy’s most famous vineyards, including Le Musigny, Échezeaux, Chapelle-Chambertin and in the famously fragmented Clos de Vougeot vineyard.
