2018 Louis Jadot Volnay
2018 Louis Jadot Volnay, Red wine from Volnay,France
This superb red wine by Louis Jadot is produced in the Côtes de Beaune area of Burgundy. Available in 75cl bottles, Volnay, Louis Jadot is a flavorful wine, made from Pinot Noir grapes. This wine has a cork closure and is suitable for vegan diets. Elegant, savory, berry-fruit flavors that are excellent with game, wild mushrooms and rich chicken and beef dishes.
Traditionally the most feminine and elegant of the Côte d’Or red wines, Volnay lies between the villages of Pommard and Meursault. The wine combines distinction, nobility, finesse and femininity and offers a complex bouquet of red berries, violets and vanilla.
Pinot Noir, a temperamental thin skinned grape and difficult to grow, when produced of any quality it demands high prices. The thin skin means it’s very light in color body and tannin, it characteristically has searing acidity and full lingering flavors of raspberry, strawberry, cherry, violets and sweet spice.
Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by the man whose name it bears, Louis Henry Denis Jadot. The first of his family arrived in Beaune from Belgium in 1794 and soon began purchasing Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. With grape growing a part of his heritage, Louis Henry set about gaining experience first in the cellars, in the evaluation of wines, and then in the vineyards, in the study of viticulture. As Louis Henry traveled he acquired a faithful clientele, and in 1859 purchased the respected négociant firm of Lemaire-Fouleux and gave the firm his name. After his death, his son, Louis Baptiste Jadot, enthusiastically carried on the work his father had begun.
Volnay produces some of the most supple, silky, refined and generous wines of all the Côte de Beaune communes, delivering lovely enticing aromas and concentrated succulent fruit on the palate.
