2018 Worlds End Crossfire Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper 750ML
The 2018 Crossfire Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard is big, rich and lush. With its super-dark notes of chocolate, clove and mocha, this full-bodied effort is savory-leaning, richly textured and long, with plummy fruit and plenty of spice.
Purchased by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1988 from the Kelham family, the vineyard has since been replanted using new Cabernet Sauvignon clones with tighter spacing and advanced trellising systems, enhancing quality and grape tonnage. The cropping level is held to the same low yield as the To Kalon Vineyard – under three tons to the acre.
The 2018 Crossfire Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard features notes of dark chocolate, cedar, cassis, plum and spice cake. It’s all Cabernet Sauvignon from this Oakville site, matured in 80% new French oak (20% second-fill). Full-bodied and plush but still reasonably structured, it’s drinking well now but should go for another decade or more. 93pts Parker
