2019 Bouchard Pere & Fils Pommard Rugiens
2019 Bouchard Pere & Fils Pommard Rugiens A beautiful 2019 Burgundy that’s weighty in the mouth, deliciously mineral and impressively focused, this ’09 has the kind of structure that may make you overlook its ripe cherries and sun-warmed strawberries laid atop a foundation of smoked meat and toasty vanilla. Just beautiful and drinking to the end of the decade.
Bouchard Pere & Fils
Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy, perpetuating traditions for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations.
In 1775, Joseph Bouchard acquired the first vines in Volnay in the famous “Caillerets” climate, and began building the family estate. His son, Antoine Philibert Joseph Bouchard, seized the opportunity of the sale of the goods of the clergy and the nobility confiscated during the French Revolution to extend the estate with the purchase of several plots in Beaune, including the famous “Beaune Grèves Vigne de the Child Jesus”.
The ambition to create an exceptional domain in Côte d’Or crossed generations and new acquisitions in the most beautiful villages were added throughout the 19th century and again during the 20th century.
An Exceptional Domain
It is over time, through a blend of terroirs produced with patience and meticulousness, that Bouchard Père & Fils has built up a vast estate in Côte-d’Or which today has 130 hectares of vines.
A unique heritage in Burgundy, through its diversity and prestigious appellations: Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus, Bonnes-Mares, Meursault Perrières. Names steeped in history and emotion, which encourage excellence and respect, including four monopolies and exclusives. Remarkable plots which are the subject of the most attentive care on the part of the teams responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of the vineyards of the estate.
