2019 Bovio Barolo
2019 Bovio Barolo Ruby red color with brick red highlights. The bouquet is fresh, with scents of nuts and leather. The palate is smooth with an elegant and persistent, sweet, traditional tannin. On the palate, full body, silky tannins and a truly ethereal finish.
embodies elegance with lively notes of tart raspberry, thyme, and a sleek long finish. The tannins are ripe and embraces every sip. Aromas of rose petal and baking spices on the nose, following through on the palate along with flavors of ripe cherry and strawberry. Elegant tannins with a long finish.
Winemaking is simple, with brief skin macerations. When fermentation is complete, the wine is racked over to botte grande for two years of aging, followed by six months in cement. The fruit comes from both La Morra and Castiglione Falletto.
This Barolo really moved me and when I heard the price I was inspired to share it with all of you. You cannot find Barolo this good, from such a great vintage and from such a low price. The greatness of the Nebbiolo grape can make wines that are profound, complex with the ability to age like very few others. The finest from Barolo are some of the greatest wines in the world. Its is rare that I am able to find a Barolo that these qualities at a low price. I can tell you the 2019 Bovio Barolo is a such a wine. Today’s wine benefits from the increased fruit concentration and structure that comes with this vintage and the ability to age in your cellar for many years to come. 2018 was superb and customers loved the wine but I think 2019 is even better, more and complex and longer on the finish. The wine was sourced from two of the finest communes in Barolo, La Morra and Castiglione Falleto. Some of Barolo’s true greats come from these vineyards, Paolo Scavino and Bruno Giacosa come to mind. This is a wine that I strongly recommend.
