The 2019 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon is impressive, even the color tells the story: deep ruby red and very pretty in its brilliance. Nothing is obvious but all so integrated. Deep black berry and tobacco seem to mesh with an almost mint-violet complex. A beautiful toasty oak brings all together. There is so much going on aromatically one can only imagine how time will enhance and develop the aromas into something quite grand indeed. It’s hard to stop inhaling these fabulous qualities. The flavor does not disappoint; there is so much going on. This is perhaps the richest wine Forman has ever produced, but certainly not awkwardly so. Beautiful fruit flavors combined with incredible texture. This is a tremendously mouth-filling wine. A real keeper! Winemaker

Ric Forman has been making Cabernet in Napa since the 1970’s. He is arguably Napa Valley’s first superstar winemaker. Parker comments, “Forman’s Cabernet is one of the classic masterpieces of Napa Valley.” He started his own winery in 1983 at the foot of Howell Mountain, a boutique winery that makes just 2000 cases of Cabernet and 2000 cases of Chardonnay a year. It’s a jewel of an estate and in 2019 Forman was working on his 53rd vintage which is pretty unheard of in Napa. The Cabernet is all estate fruit coming from two vineyards just above the winery on Howell Mountain and a third vineyard on the valley floor in Rutherford. The 2019 Forman Cabernet is a thing beauty. 2019 as a vintage is one of the greats receiving 97pts by Wine Spectator for the vintage with excellent structure worthy of the cellar. Galloni of Vinous comments; “the 2019s I have tasted so far are fabulous. The wines feel like they have a little more energy, power and depth than the 2018s” and 2018 is also a great vintage. Forman nailed it in 2019 getting 97pts by Vinous making this one of their highest rated, marvelously rich and concentrated and marvelously supple. With time in the bottle the wine is superb now, I had a bottle over the weekend, but will definitely improve in the cellar. Drinking this wine just puts a smile on my face and reminds just how great to Napa are and can be. Our price on the wine is strong. A huge favorite of mine and a must for Napa Cab lovers.
