2019 Gehricke Pinot Noir Los Carneros
2019 Gehricke Pinot Noir Los Carneros Big ripe soft fruit, lots of juicy cherries. Light tobacco. Light white oak. Mild tannins. This is a bottle to share with good friends. Serve with sharp cheddar and French bread. Very enjoyable.
Scents of rose petals, wild berries and pomegranate are layered with intriguing hints of cocoa and baking spice. With a stately crimson hue, flavors of ripe strawberry and dark plum are intertwined with secondary notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and toasted almonds. Overall, a fantastic, food-friendly wine that becomes more rich and luxurious with time in the glass.
Pinot Noir
There are two theories regarding the Pinot name. One is that it came about because their bunches are similar in shape to a pine cone (pinot in French).
It may derive, however, from a place name in France such as Pinos or Pignols from where cuttings were obtained. Pignols in the Auvergne, for example, has cultivated Pinot since the Middle Ages.
