2019 Hourglass Cabernet Sauvignon “Composed of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has a deep purple-black color. It confidently strides out of the glass with classic cassis, plum preserves and cedar chest notes with hints of violets, graphite, unsmoked cigars and incense. Hourglass is making some of the finest Cabernet coming out of Napa and their Estate Cabernet has reached stratosphere status. The 2019 vintage for Napa is a definite buy!

Now I have a tiny amount of the 2019 Hourglass Estate Cabernet to offer you. The wine got massive 98pts by Parker’s WA and 98pts by Vinous. I happened to be in Fort Lauderdale two weeks ago and a friend of mine had recently visited Hourglass and we were able to taste this wine and I can tell you its as close to perfection as it gets. The property dates back to 1976, eventually purchased in 1992 by Jeff Smith, son of the original owner Ned Smith.  In 1992, Jeff enlisted his family friend Bob Foley as the force behind his new venture.  Bob is an absolute rock star, and his wines are some of Napa’s most sought after cult bottlings, including Robert Foley Vineyards, School House, Paloma, Pride Mountain, and Switchback Ridge, which neighbors Hourglass. Today Bob is assisted by Tony Biaggi who was previously winemaker at Plumpjack and Cade. The vineyard is about a dozen acres and neighbors Colgin’s Tychson Hill Vineyard off Route 29 north of St. Helena.  As good as Cab gets!
