2019 Monticello Vineyards Cabernet Jefferson’s Cuvee In keeping with previous vintages, this 100% estate grown Jefferson Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon is another superb representation of classic Napa Cabernet. Indeed, its dark fruit flavors, healthy oak influence, velvety tannins, and round mouthfeel all personify what you might expect in such a wine. The result is a ripe vibrant wine that is quite approachable now, but also worthy of 10+ years of aging.

Mondavi, Krug, Martini, Beringer. These four names were the foundation of Napa Valley’s beginnings.  We know them to be synonymous with legacy and recognition. They paved the way, helping put Napa Valley on the map with some of  the greatest red wines in the world, from the First Growth Bordeaux’s to the Grand Crus of Red Burgundy.  There is a family name we put up there at the top of Napa’s history that goes unnoticed: Corley.  If you don’t know it, now you will.

The Corley family in Napa Valley founded Monticello Vineyards in 1970 making them one of the foundation wineries of Napa. This is a family affair, still in operation today, with different family members in charge of various operations.  Their wines have attended the Academy Awards in 2004 tucked into the celebrities’ gift bags, it has been served by Ronald Reagan to Queen Elizabeth in New York; by Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush in the White House; and by George H.W. Bush to many foreign dignitaries including Gorbachev, Major, Bandar and Salinas. They own 5 prime vineyard locations in Napa, ‘Home Ranch Vineyard’ and ‘Knollwood Vineyard’ in the Oak Knoll District.
