2019 Podere Sapaio Valpolo The organic Podere Sapaio 2019 Bolgheri Rosso Volpolo is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller parts Merlot and Petit Verdot. This vintage shows nice freshness and brightness and a good dose of extra fruit weight and concentration. The bouquet is clean and precise with dark cherry, blackcurrant, and plum. The fruit is neatly framed by spice and sweet tobacco. This is a great vintage of the Tuscan-souled Volpolo. ~93+ Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The wine has been on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Twice in the last five years. The 2018 won Tre Biccheri from  Gamberro Rosso competing against other Super Tuscans that are are in the $200 a bottle plus price range. This is one of the great Cabernet based values you will find on the planet today, period!

Podere Sapaio was founded for wine production in the late 90s after Massimo Piccin convinced his father to invest and purchase parcels of land in Tuscany’s Bolgheri region to solely plant Bordeaux varietals.
