2019 Stuhlmuller Estate Cabernet
2019 Stuhlmuller Estate Cabernet This estate grown wine is a great find and a great value. Rich black fruits and intricate oak spices form a compelling blend in this well saturated, deep and complex wine. Moderate to full tannins support blueberries, new leather and ginger flavors that expand on the palate and linger on the finish. It will be best from 2027-2037.” 95pts WE
The concentrated 2019 vintage has delivered everything we love in an Alexander Valley Cabernet, with aromas of blackberry, currant, and ripe plum. On the palate, the texture is big and juicy. Structured tannins add definition to the rich flavors of dark berries and crme de cassis, as well as layers of saddle leather, sweet oak, and spice. Ample natural acidity provides length and freshness.
This is a sensational wine and a strong buy. Stuhlmuller started out in 1982 and quickly built their reputation as grape growers selling their great Cabernet fruit to some of greats like iconic Jordan. Over time Fritz Stuhlmuller, realizing their huge potential, started making their own wines and their Cabernet quickly became their star. Only their very finest grapes go into their own wine. They have nailed it with the release of the 2019 Stuhlmuller Estate Cabernet. Only the top 7% of their Cabernet grape production went into this wine. The wine got a massive 95pts by WE making it the highest rated Alexander Valley for the vintage. It beat all the heavy hitters like Aperture and Medlock Ames, wines that’s sell for $150 plus per bottle. 2019 is also a great vintage for North Coast Cali Cab receiving a strong 96pts by Parker’s Wine Advocate. This is great Cabernet very much in line with Silver Oak’s Alexander Valley Cab, having marvelous drinkability now, rich, round and supple combined with a great potential age and improve in the cellar with the best of them. This wine is a steal for what’s in the bottle.
