2019 Tegernseerhof Gruner Veltliner Federspiel T-26
2019 Tegernseerhof Gruner Veltliner Federspiel T-26 The 2019 Tegernseerhof Gruner Veltliner T26 Federspiel is one of Austria’s greatest dry white wine values. From the steep slopes of the Wachau and from the top vintage of the 21st century (so far), this is what Gruner Veltliner is supposed to taste like. Juicy, deeply flavored, and vibrant with citrus, pear, white pepper, and mineral. Classic wine from one of the Wachau’s most respected producers!
When we tasted this wine the first time in 2006 it was in tank #26. Very aromatic, full of round fruit balanced with crisp acidity. The distinct soil lends a pleasant minerality, while the tropical fruit play is balanced with a white pepper note typical of this varietal. Pairs well with a wide range of foods including Asian cuisine and fish with fresh herbs.

Martin Mittelbach is the fifth generation to lead the winery. It is his declared goal to use the vineyards’ enormous potential to produce unique and distinguished wines. “Following ancient traditions, we select our grapes for their agility and vitality. Quality comes before quantity. Our wines reflect our values: they impress through their expression of vineyard and grape variety rather than their alcohol or sugar content. Their finesse comes naturally from a combination of soil, climate and traditional viticulture.”
Tegernseerhof is a member of the Vinea Wachau association. Founded in 1983, the Vinea Wachau wineries undertake to produce only wines from their own growing areas, as defined by law. Vinea Wachau watches over quality. There can be no compromises.
Members of Vinea Wachau are bound by their own code. ‘Codex Wachau’ is dedicated to natural wine production. The registered trademark wines, Steinfeder, Federspiel, and Smaragd, undergo strict controls by the vintners themselves.
The outstanding quality accounts for the success of Vinea Wachau wineries. Their wines regularly win national and international prizes.
