2020 Anselmi Bianco San Vincenzo
2020 Anselmi Bianco San Vincenzo Very sav blanc like, even though it only accounts for 10% of the blend, the majority is the native Garganega. Not cirtrus-y, but not so minerally either. The remaining 10% is Chardonnay, and it shows with a creamier, chewier body, but so much oak or butteriness. A very unique and delicious white blend.
Anselmi
Anselmi is the flagship family-owned winery in the Veneto in northeastern Italy. It has achieved distinction under owner and winemaker, Roberto Anselmi, due to his passion for the land and his uncompromising commitment to quality.
The Anselmi estate of 170 acres includes some of the best hillside vineyards on the highest slopes between Monteforte and Soave. From its illustrious vineyards, Anselmi produces crisp white wines from the indigenous Garganega (gar-GAH-neh-gah) grapes. High quality Garganega grapes, such as those grown at Anselmi, are known for their distinctive lemon and almond characteristics. These grapes create wines of intensity and mouth-filling texture.
Anselmi’s vines have an ideal southern facing exposure with a microclimate created by the sun, the breeze and dramatic temperature shifts overnight. Grown on volcanic tuff and limestone soil, instead of the fertile volcanic soils of the valley floor, the Anselmi vines are guyot-trained on spurred cordons, creating low production per plant and causing bunches to grow to close to the old wood with a limited number of bunches per plant. Careful attention is given to viticulture including close pruning, vendage verte (green harvest) and meticulous grape selection.
