Château Canon Chaigneau is located then in the eastern side of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation on the Néac plateau which is a continuation of the Pomerol plateau, where the likes of Petrus, Lafleur, la Conseillante, and Clinet can be found. At Canon Chaigneau, we are lucky enough to have a terroir of clay, limestone & iron deposits; indeed very similar to those great names just to the south, a terroir adding genuine complexity and making for excellent, refined & age-worthy wines. Neac should actually be in Pomerol!  A legendary winemaker, Thierry Garnaud has been in charge of making the wine since 1995, & will continue for some years to come. Thierry was winemaker at Cheval Blanc (sells for $800 plus) from 1988 – 2018, responsible for such 100 point legends as the 1990, ‘98, 2000, ‘03, ‘05, ‘06, ‘08, ‘10, ‘15 & 2016.

2020 is considered to be one of the finest vintages EVER for Pomerol and its surrounding vineyards. Warm and dry weather resulted in lush, rich wines! Nothing is overdone or over extracted – this is suave and extremely drinkable. I emphatically implore you to grab a case and enjoy!
