2020 Cloisonne Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon A complex wine with layers of deep black fruits. Deep aromas of plum, cassis, black tea, cedar, cigar box, and licorice. Long finish with baking spices on the palate. Supple tannins that that add structure and weight to this special wine. Aged for 17 months using 100% French oak to create a masterpiece. This wine demonstrates why Napa Valley is considered one of the finest places in the world to grow Cabernet Sauvignon.

​This is quite the discovery. One of our favorite Pinot Noir producers is David Rossi who makes some of the finest single vineyard Pinot Noir in California including a single vineyard Gaps Crown Pinot which is like liquid gold. David comes to visit us from time to time, we got talking, I love the wines he makes and I happen to ask him if there was anything new or different he was working and that’s how we discovered today’s. The wine is an absolute steal Napa Cab that is spectacular at the price but has one huge draw back. There are only 30 cases available. The wine is the Cloisonne Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 and wow its good. David made the wine for a special customer of his, a one-time project.

Cloisonne is the art of combining bronze, enamel and painting techniques to create sophisticated, ornate surfaces, serves as the inspiration behind each bottle of Cloisonne wine. We combine a deep sense of place, confident vision and brilliant command of craft to produce truly memorable wines. The wine is superb Napa Cab, could easily be priced at double the price. David told me that all the Cabernet is sourced from Rutherford in Napa, one of Napa’s most prestigious location for Cabernet, from a vineyard farmed by Mark Neal. Mark Neal and the Neal Family are deeply embedded in Napa and its soil with Mark’s father Jack starting a vineyard management business in 1968. Many great wines over the years were made from vineyards overseen by Mark Neal. David selected Cabernet clone 33 to make this wine which is the most prized clone in Napa that makes a bigger, richer Cab with a great core of black fruits. We are always on the hunt for great values and the hardest values to find are Napa Cabs. This is a great value that I wish we had more to offer.
