2020 Domaine Patrick Miolane Puligny Montrachet
2020 Domaine Patrick Miolane Puligny Montrachet Pale yellow in color, this perfect Puligny has aromas and flavors of ripe Conference pear and nectarine, and tropical notes of pineapple and dried banana, underlined by a lovely fluidity, refreshing acidity and a long saline finish. Ready to drink now, but young enough to store away for a couple of years. Very good quality at this price point.
This fancy favorite offers a rich, vibrant, complex glide of fresh peaches and pears, splashed with sweet lemon – blossoming with white flowers, mineral zip, a hint of anise and palate-coating length. This excellent wine from Miolane is blended from grapes hand-picked from 55-year old vines. Definitely a keeper, it is elegant and layered, with vibrant fruit and crisp acidity. Mineral, lemony notes on the palate give way to a long and consistent finish.
There is a huge shortage of white Burgundy out there. There is virtually no Puligny Montrachet. We have just received a great Puligny that is also spectacular value for money. One of the favorite producers for white Burgundy is Domaine Patrick Miolane. An estate that provides wine lovers with splendid wines that offer tremendous value for the money. These guys are white wine specialists that have been making wines for multiple generations. Patrick took over the Domaine in 1983, when he succeeded his father and is now the 5th generation winemaker. The estate comprises only of 9 hectares of vines, dedicated to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with Patrick’s white wines being the ones that really excel. The Domaine sits at an enviable location with Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet as neighbor. Patrick makes boutique wines that because of the ultra-low production very little makes it to the US. Since 2005, Barbara, Patrick’s daughter helps him with the winemaking. Barbara’s experience comes from working the harvest at renowned houses in Chassagne-Montrachet (Jean- Noel Gagnard and Chateau de Chassagne- Montrachet) and the Loire Valley. Today’s wine the 2020 Domaine Patrick Miolane Puligny Montrachet is an absolute steal for what’s in the bottle. Sourced from a vineyard that was planted in 1962, 60 year old vines, insane concentration. This is hard core, power Puligny, superb richness and concentration, will age superbly in the cellar, if you have the strength to put it away. Again there is just about no Puligny out there……
