2020 Eddy Morrey Hauts Cotes de Beaune (white)  –Maison Eddy Morey Beaune Blanc 2020 is a defined white wine with concentrated citrus aromas, floral notes and hints of dried fruits, honey and cinnamon. On the palate it is fresh, oily and persistent. A wine with pleasant acidity, an unctuous mid-palate and a long finish with delicate notes of toasted hazelnut.

Fine structure and intensely flavored,  revealing aromas of pear, crisp green apple, freshly baked bread, lemon zest and hazelnuts, it’s medium-bodied, racy and incisive, with a fleshy core of fruit and a long, saline finish.

Nothing matches the great white wines of Burgundy. They have been copied and emulated world wide to no avail. Nothing touches their purity, depth, complexity and length. Unfortunately they have become harder to get and their prices have sky rocketed. The hardest wine for me to find is excellent great white Burgundy at a reasonable price that I can offer. Finally after much looking I tasted this wine at a non-descript tasting and I was blown away by this wine and floored at the price I can offer it to you. Now much of the best quality that is coming out of Burgundy are coming the most recent younger generation. They are not satisfied with the fact that if they own good vineyards in Burgundy, they know their wines will sell no matter the quality like many from previous generations. These young Turks want to make the best possible wines that they can. They go to the finest institutions to learn how to make wine and they travel to the worlds great wine regions, learning and honing their craft. One of these young Turks is Eddy Morey and his wines are awesome, spectacular purity authentic wines that dazzle the senses only like Burgundy can. The wine is the 2020 Eddy Morey Hautes Cotes de Beaune White. The vineyard that he uses is owned by his grandmother and he has put some extra TLC into making this wine. The wines appellation is not famous are heralded but what’s in the bottle is spectacular. It reminds me of Meursault or Chassagne Montrachet with superb concentration that’s elegant and light on its feet. The fruit is gorgeously pure with just the right amount of oak to add depth and complexity without overshadowing the wine. I have been waiting for this wine to arrive for four months. It was meant to arrive in September nut in this crazy world it has just arrived. I am a huge fan of Burgundy, and have been dissecting, analyzing and searching for the best for decades.
