2020 Lagarde ‘Guarda’ Malbec DOC 750ML Intense aromas dominated by ripe red fruits and jams, combined with soft aromatic contribution of oak, vanilla, chocolate and smoke. Elegant in the mouth, good concentration and smoothness, with silky tannins, typical of Argentine malbec.

Lagarde is owned by wine-loving Mendozan businessman Enrique Pescarmona. Since the 1980s, the winery has been making wine from their own grapes, grown in vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and more recently in Gualtallary. Run today by Pescarmona’s daughters Sofía and Lucila, the winery offers both traditional styles, bearing its Lagarde Malbec DOC and Guarda labels, and innovative lines under the Proyecto Hermanas brand. Halfway between the two, Primeras Viñas is a little jewel produced from old vines.
