2020 Les Heritiers Saint Genys Santenay Blanc 750ML
2020 Les Heritiers Saint Genys Santenay Blanc 750ML Seriously concentrated for this village, with near-perfect ripeness, excellent structure and seamless harmony. Only at the end do you feel the fine tannins very slightly, as they give the long, chalky and salty finish a final push. A cuvee of wines from Sous les Roche and Combe Dessus. From grapes that were sustainably grown, with no use of herbicides. Drink or hold.
Wonderfully bright and pure on the nose, flavors are long and complex with a hint of pithy white grapefruit adding freshness. Well-balanced, ripe fruit but not at all heavy rather fresh and vital with a lovely long finish.
The nose is very open, flattering, very pure. An exuberant aromatic expression. This wine is very present in the mouth, with an unusual volume, both fruit concentration and a delicate, chiseled finish, and still a lot of aromatic purity. Nice length. An indulgent aperitif that can continue as you dine!
Quality white burgundy is extremely hard to find and if you do, you are going to have to spend a ton to experience. Prices just keep going up and availability just keeps going down. We have a wine that won’t have to spend a ton to experience. This wine breaks the mold and it come from one of the greatest white Burgundy vintages in recent times. Parker’s WA gave the vintage 97pts which equals the highest score they have ever given a vintage for white Burgundy. Today’s wine is the answer, covers all bases except availability. The 2020 Les Heritiers Saint Genys Santenay Blanc got a massive 96pts by Suckling which is absolutely huge for a white Burgundy under fifty. These are the most expensive white wines in the worlds. I cant remember seeing a white Burgundy getting such a high score at such a low price.
Les Heritiers Saint Genys is a partnership of Patrice du Jeu and his uncle. Patrice was then a restaurateur in Paris, and decided it was time for him to leave the restaurant business and go back to his family roots. In 2013, renowned oenologist Jean-Baptiste Alinc joined the team adding his knowledge and knowhow to the estate. They hired famous French winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt to consult, many 100pt Parker wines from all over the world. What they have put together is impressive and the results have been spectacular. Sourced from 40 year old vines which add concentration and complexity, this a rare chance to experience the greatness of white Burgundy at an affordable price. I am a huge fan of white Burgundy and I urge you to treat yourself to something special. Please Enjoy!
