2020 Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet
2020 Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet An energetic Napa Valley Cabernet with a bright and impactful first impression imparting flavors of black and red cherries. Medium-bodied with well-integrated, powdery tannins. Notes of blackberry bramble, raspberry, and red currant mingle with cocoa, dried herbs, and crushed graphite. Great acidity. Well balanced and structured, this wine can be enjoyed upon release, and can also be cellared and enjoyed in the years to come. Winemaker
Aromas of blackcurrant, hazelnut and chocolate, with hints of mint and sage that follow through to a medium to full body, with wonderful soft and fine tannins that give a velvety texture and persistent finish. So balanced and refined. Subtle. Didn’t include wine from vineyards in Atlas Peak this year. An excellent 2020. Drinkable, but will improve so well in the cellar. 95pts Suckling
The track record of Spottswoode in Napa has very few equals. Under the guidance of the Novak family and with the help of the who’s who of great Napa winemakers starting with Tony Soter, and then following other greats like Mia Klein and Rosemary Cakebread, Andy Erickson and Aaron Weinkauf, they have been able to stamp their style and imprint on this tremendous vineyard. Spotteswoode is truly a First Growth of Napa. I have been lucky enough to sit down with daughter Lindy Novak and taste their great wines on different occasions and it is one of the true greats. Spottswoode is like Chateau Latour from Bordeaux in its consistency. I have never had a bad bottle of Latour in any vintage and I can say the same for Spottswoode. I have been able to secure the 2020 Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet at a great price for you all. The wine got a huge 95pts by Suckling. This is the Spottswoode “smart buy” Cab, coming in at almost $150 less than the estate bottling. This alluring Cabernet was made using 81% fruit from our own Spottswoode Estate Vineyard, as well as grapes carefully selected from a handful of conscientious growers who share our mindful and quality-focused approach to farming. We have the wine down to $89.99 from its release price of $119.99 plus. I remind you that the Estate Cabernet from Spottswoode sells between $200 and $300 a Bottle. This is a great buy on Napa royalty. Incredible quality at the price, reminds me of Schrader’s Double Diamond. A must for Napa Cab Fans!
