The floral symbol on my wine label is the Cattleya Trinae, an epiphytic orchid that grows abundantly throughout Colombia. With succulent leaves and vibrant blooms, it was nominated as the national flower in November 1936. That same year the National Academy of History of Argentina invited Latin American Countries to an exhibition where each country presented its most representative flowering plant. The Colombian government appointed botanist Emilio Robledo to officially designate the Cattleya as Colombia’s national flower.
