2022 Chateau Roseline Lampe de Meduse
2022 Chateau Roseline Lampe de Meduse “A blend of 40% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, 20% Mourvèdre and 5% Tibouren, the 2022 Cotes de Provence Rose Lampe de Meduse delivers notes of strawberries, fresh herbs, underripe peaches and citrus. It’s medium-bodied, with a gently silky feel on the palate and a crisp, lingering finish.” WA
Light salmon pink. The complex and intense nose features tropical fruit, white peach and mango notes. The long finish provides the right balance between roundness and freshness. Drink as an aperitif. Pairings: grilled fish, summer salad, white meat, Parmigiano-Reggiano. Winery
The only lamp shaped bottle: The Lampe de Méduse bottle is the estate’s emblem since 1950. Baroness Rasque de Laval, former estate owner, created this bottle to honor the knights of Medusa, one of the oldest wine fraternities in France. Their motto was “Lamp in hand, lamp well lit, let us lift it to eye level and invoke Mother Medusa, let’s lamp!” (LAMP = CHUG) The knights used to “lamp” their wine, in other words, drink it in one gulp (Quarantine style?)
Yes can you believe it after a long, long winter, weather is starting to warm up. What’s also great is that tastings have started again and we had the opportunity to go to New York to attend a huge tasting of Rose from Provence and today’s wine blew us away. It will blow you away to and you should take advantage of our intro offer.
Chateau Sainte-Roseline has been recognized as truly one of the best roses from Provence, and one of the best values in the rose category. Ideally located 30 minutes from Saint-Tropez and Cannes, Chateau Sainte-Roseline is a historic site and a Cru Classé de Provence. Chateau Sainte Roseline is considered today as one of the only historical “Grand Cru” estates in Provence. It is one of only 18 Cru Classe’s in Provence.
Provence is indeed the only French wine region outside of Bordeaux that has developed in 1955 a Classification system for its wine estates. This is a classification mirroring that of the great Bordeaux châteaux based on the quality of the wines, their cellar reputation, their overall vineyard quality and the historic heritage of the properties. This classification was established by a commission of experts. There are now only 18 properties left, and Chateau Sainte Roseline is the only Classified Estate in the Les Arcs region, less than 30 minutes from Saint-Tropez.
The vineyards of Château Sainte-Roseline provide an exceptional terroir for Provence: The clay and limestone soils, as well as the underground springs enable controlled nourishment to the vines creating great wines, especially some balanced, mineral driven, fresh and zesty Rosé wines. These springs are bringing the natural freshness, balance, acidity and minerality that you will find in the Rosé wines made at Chateau Sainte-Roseline.
Chateau Sainte-Roseline was founded in the 11th Century by an hermit named Roubaud who loved the calm and peaceful scenery of the surrounding natural springs. Under the Pope Jean XXII (1244 – 1334) – more well-known from wine lovers for his role with the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation – some of the first vineyards were planted in this unique terroir. In 1955, Chateau Sainte-Roseline received the “Cru Classé” designation. Since 2007, Aurelie Bertin has taken over the destiny of this great property, with the aim of making it one of the jewels Provence and she has succeeded.
