2021 Felsina Chianti Classico
2021 Felsina Chianti Classico A firm and silky red with cherry, dried flower and orange peel aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh and focused finish. Needs a little time to soften but I already enjoy the energy here. Drink or hold. 93pts Suckling
The Fèlsina 2021 Chianti Classico Berardenga has a spicy or crunchy side that I often find with Sangiovese. There is a lot of fruit brightness here with cassis, red cherry, mineral, dried tobacco and grilled rosemary. This is an easy-drinking Tuscan red with the natural acidity and brightness to pair with a classic Italian fair. 91pts Parker’s WA
The 2021 Felsina Chianti Classico is boisterous and expressive right out of the glass. Dark fruit, earthiness, leather, spice and tobacco convey tons of Berardenga character. The 2021 keeps getting better in the glass. It’s a super classic example and a wine readers should consider buying by the case. 2021 added a touch of sophistication that is undeniable. 92pts Vinous
Felsina is one of benchmark producers, based in one of the sweet spots in the Classico Zone called Berardenga. I have followed this winery for 25 years now and they make some of the greatest reds coming out of Italy today. Their wines are 100% Sangiovese and they were early pioneers of abandoning the use of white grapes and other indigenous varieties. Sangiovese is king in Tuscany, why not focus on it! They consider their Chianti to be some of the most Brunello-like of the appellation. They make some of the most age-worthy Chianti’s showing their wines class over time. This wine is one of the greatest bargains we offer and the 2021 Felsina Chianti Classico is a great example. 2021 is looking strong for Tuscany. Excess early rains were key with the hot and dry weather that followed in August and September. The weather was perfect during harvest. Yields were low and quality is high. Sangiovese in particular promises a rich intensity with great concentration of fruit and structure backed by velvety tannins. A huge reason for Felsina’s success is Franco Bernabei is part of the winemaking team. He is a leader in Italian winemaking. He has made more Tre Bicchieri winners by Gambero Rosso than any other winemaker. This is the highest award given to an Italian wine by Italy’s leading wine publication. He is a winemaking genius. The Felsina Chianti Classico is great wine at its price point. Galloni of Vinous suggest that readers should consider buying this wine buy the case. A Proven winner in a buy vintage perfect for the fall and beyond.
