2021 Fulcrum On Point Pinot Noir
2021 Fulcrum On Point Pinot Noir Almost lush up front, with mulberry and boysenberry compote notes, this is quickly harnessed by lightly chalky minerality, while fresh violet and iris accents emerge on the pure finish. Drink now through 2028. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 93pts Wine Spectator
Bright crimson and purple in color. Dark cherry with caramel and spice on the nose. Elegant flavors of berries, cherries, anise and mineral. Soft acid and well-integrated tannin lead into a silky finish. Winemaker
The hardest wine to find is Pinot Noir of the highest quality that can be had at a reasonable price. Todays Pinot compares with the greats of the Sonoma Coast at a half to a third of the price. Yesterday we introduced you to a Napa Cab made by David Rossi that we strongly recommend. Rossi however is a great Winemaker that built his reputation on Pinot Noir. He makes and has access to some of the finest single vineyard Pinot Noir made in California today in including Gaps Crown and Wildcat that sell for $80 to $100 per bottle. These vineyards have made some of the Pinot’s ever including the #1 wine on Wine Spectators Top 100. David Rossi besides the great single vineyard Pinots that he makes also makes a Pinot Noir that is less than half the price that is absolutely spectacular in the great 2021 vintage.
The wine is the 2021 Fulcrum On Point Pinot Noir and is a blend of his finest single vineyard wines: Gaps Crown, Wildcat Mountain and Walala. The 2021 Pinot Noir Vintage for the North coast of California is looking strong. Yields were low, berries were small with thick skins resulting in a vintage of excellent structure, concentration and age-ability. Spectator gave the vintage 94pts. Galloni of Vinous comments: “The wines I have tasted so far suggest this is a very good and possibly outstanding vintage. The best 2021s are deep, beautifully layered and highly expressive.” This wine got a huge 93pts by Wine Spectator and is the lowest priced highest scoring Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir of the vintage. Other wines that got the same score are greats like 2021 Dumol Estate Pinot Noir at $115; Hanzel Sonoma Pinot at $98 and Kosta Browne Pinot ‘Tree House’ at $210. Quantities are limited as only 171 cases were made. Experience the best at a great price.
