2021 RouteStock Pinot Noir
2021 RouteStock Pinot Noir The wine has a beautiful vibrant red color, and a deep brooding aroma reminiscent of dried herbs, toasted hazelnuts, and blood orange peel. The flavors are bright from acidity, and deep from concentration at the same time having flavors of shiitake mushrooms, bay laurel, lavender, and cooked red and blackberries. The wine is amazingly complex, bright, rich, and inviting. Winemaker
Floral, plummy aromas and delicious raspberry and red cherry flavors animate this medium bodied, moderately tannic wine. Nicely ripe it’s also nicely tangy, making for good balance. 92pts WE
The toughest grape to make a great wine at a reasonable price is Pinot Noir. The grape ripens late, does well in cool climates which makes it hard to ripen and the skins are very thin and prone to splitting. This wine which I tasted today breaks the mold. This superb Pinot is bursting with juicy red berry fruit, is fresh and alive, has great balance and length. The wine is drinking superbly but has the stuffing to improve in the bottle and Wow what a value to enjoy this season. I loved the fig notes on the back palate. The 2021 RouteStock Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast is an absolute stunner Under $20, with a huge 92pts by Decanter and WE very hard to beat. RouteStock is a label set up by the Wilson Daniels Company who represents some of the finest Wineries in the US and Europe. They are able to source grapes from some of the finest vineyards and made by some of the finest Winemakers to make RouteStock. The Sonoma Coast is home to some of the greatest Pinot Noirs made in California and this wine is sourced from a vineyard whose Pinot Noir sells for well over $50 a bottle. 2021 is an excellent year for Sonoma Pinot Noir. The Wine Spectator gave the vintage 96pts. I taste through RouteStock’s wines every year because when they get it right, they offer some of the finest value to be had from California. They nailed it with this Pinot Noir. I strongly recommend!
