2022 Lagarde Proyecto Hermanas White Blend 750ML
2022 Lagarde Proyecto Hermanas White Blend 750ML The 2022 White Blend Proyecto Hermanas is 50% Chardonnay, 22% Viognier, 18% Sauvignon Blanc, and 10% Sémillon from the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo. It was aged for up to a year in 500L French barrels. Yellow in hue. The vivid aromas range from honey and herbs to peach and hazelnut, all against a subtle oaky background. A tart, taut palate complements the indulgent, almost creamy mouthfeel, producing intense flavors that linger into the finish.” – Joaquín Hidalgo
In the early 1980s, the Argentine businessman and wine enthusiast Enrique Pescarmona, bought the Lagarde winery and its vineyards. Over the next few decades, he converted production into high-end wines, harvesting from vineyards first planted in 1906 in Drummond and several others in Perdriel and Gualtallary, Uco Valley, which I visited in late April 2023. The highest-altitude vineyard Aguas Verdes is located 1400 meters above sea level (4,600 fasl) and is the core of the refreshing wines made by Lagarde. A member of the Luján de Cuyo DOC since it was founded, Lagarde pioneered the planting of Viognier and the development of styles suitable for cellar aging. Today, the winery is run by Lucía and Sofía Pescarmona, Enrique’s daughters, with oenology supervised by Juan Roby. The winery has two restaurants: Entre Fuegos and Zonda, which opened in December 2022.
