2022 Little Boat Russian River Chardonnay
2022 Little Boat Russian River Chardonnay The Chardonnay has a great nose of poached pear, citrus, honey and orange rind with the perfect amount of oak. Full bodied mouthfeel with superb rich fruit with the perfect amount of acids, minerality and concentration. Long and penetrating finish that is glorious now, great for the summer, that will improve and amaze with time in the bottle.
“Little Boat is an exciting project centered in Russian River Valley (California), with the invaluable support of some of the best sommeliers in the country, to create these well-balanced and elegant boutique wines that are currently on the wine lists of the restaurants of some of the best chefs in the world like the late Joël Robuchon, Wolfgang Puck, Daniel Boulud, Alain Ducasse, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, José Andrés or Thomas Keller, amongst others. Inspired by the children’s song Barquito de papel (an ode to peace and friendship), little boat is dedicated to my son Mateo, author of the artwork. This wine is the fruit of the synergy between Brad Alper, William Knuttel, Mike Miller the Treyzon family and me, assisted by sommeliers Harley Carbery, Phillip Dunn, Lucas Payá and Robert Smith MS.”

As good as California Chardonnay gets, a collaboration of some the greatest wine and food experts on the planet. When you follow great winemakers, you find great wine. The wines of William Knuttell are some of the most collected and age worthy wines coming out of California today. He is a legendary maker of Pinot Noir in California. Knuttell is known for his combined 35 year tenures at Saintsbury, Chalk Hill, and Dry Creek Vineyard, where he was responsible for cultivating those wineries into the benchmarks they are today, and revolutionized the varietals of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. We were presented with Mr. Knuttell’s latest project, Little Boat, a collaboration that is truly about friendship. Mr. Knuttell has joined forces with Card master Brad Alper of Aubert and with their expertise have collaborated with some of the greatest young sommeliers in the country. These wines are the synergy between Alper, Knuttell, and sommeliers Harley Carbery (Joel Robuchon in NYC), Phillip Dunn (Spago in Beverly Hills), Lucas Paya (wine director for celebrity chef Jose Andres) and Robert Smith, MS (Picasso in Vegas). All of the wines that we tasted are being poured at all of their restaurants, in addition to Wolfgang Puck’s “Cut” and the famous Le Bernardin in NYC, Eric Ripert and their famous Sommelier Aldo Sohm who was voted “Best Sommelier in the World.” The 2022 Little Boat Russian River Chardonnay is quite simply spectacular Chardonnay, superbly rich and concentrated, gloriously balance, long and complex and drinks like a $100 plus Chardonnay. We are incredibly impressed and excited to offer to our customers. Total production on the label is 300 cases.
