2023 Domaine de la Tonnellerie Sancerre
2023 Domaine de la Tonnellerie Sancerre This one of the best expression of Sauvignon Blanc we’ve ever tasted! It’s distinct elegant, supple, freshly scented with gooseberry fruit and floral citrus hints on palate leads to a perfectly dry and refreshing finish. Ideal as a warm weather apéritif . . AND excellent with the season’s seafood, shellfish, grilled chicken and salads!
“Delicate mineral notes of chalk and slate with good citrus and melon in the nose. Fairly rich in the middle with nice snap. Firm acidity brace this wine so that it will stand up to and marry well with fish, shellfish and goat cheese. Nearly most of nine hectares of vineyards are located in the chalky, clay soil around the village of Bué, where many of Sancerre’s most prestigious vineyards are located. The soil around this village contains the perfect balance of chalk and clay. The wine is thus quite floral and high toned in the nose while having a rich, full-bodied middle.”
Sancerre is the quintessential summer white. Clean and crisp with the bright acidity and outstanding clarity of fruit, this is a no brainer option for those of you looking for the ultimate white wine this season. This Sancerre is knock out great guaranteed! Since the mid-20th century, Sancerre, Loire’s most easterly appellation, has been world famous for its crisp, mineral driven and elegantly-styled Sauvignon Blanc! Many consider Sancerre the bench-mark for Sauvignon Blanc. The wines are superb but with their popularity prices have gone up. Quality Sancerre is selling for $30 to $40 a bottle which I think is ridiculous for the style of wines they are. Today the 2023 Tonnellerie Sancerre can be had for $22.99. The wine sells out on arrival. The 2023 Tonnellerie Sancerre is the finest I have ever tasted under thirty. Domaine de La Tonnellerie, a 13-hectare (9 of which are dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc) estate located on the sloping hills of Bué in the Loire valley, is perfect for Sauvignon Blanc grape growing. Bué is famous for its hills that offer maximum sun exposure for additional ripening and healthy acidity plus sufficient protection from the elements. Sancerre screams out for summer.
