2023 Domaine du Cellier aux Moines Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier aux Moines 750ML

I tasted last night and 2023 could be the best yet. 2023 is being described as a more flamboyant 2015. This is one of the great Red Burgundy bargains. Domaine Romanee Conti red Burgundy’s are the most expensive red wines in the world. The roots of Clos du Cellier aux Moines can be traced back 900+ years to the infamous Cistercian Monks that called Burgundy home. Phillippe Pascal after decades as an executive at LVMH, working as CEO at the Moet Hennessy Group, decided to make Burgundy. In 2004 he purchased Cellier aux Moines, revitalized the operation and hired Marko Guillaume to make the wine, whose resume includes stints at Arnoux-Lachaux and Domaine de la Romanée Conti.
Domaine du Cellier aux Moines consists primarily of one of Givry’s historic Premier Cru’s  ‘Clos du Cellier aux Moines’. The Domaine is a great estate in the making with the  Domaine du Cellier aux Moines Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier aux Moines 2023, stardom has been achieved. From vines planted in 1974 and 1978, the wine is strikingly complex with great balance and intensity. Anything of this type of quality from the Cote de Nuit price gap would be enormous and the prices on these are only going one way!
