Gualtallary; Mendoza; Argentina
95pts Suckling; 92pts Parker
Today’s wine is spectacular. The wine comes from what many believe is the finest sub-zone in all of Mendoza in Argentina, Gualtallary. They are called the Grand Cru Vineyards of Argentina. The Winery called Aluvia focuses making wines from specific, iconic 2.4-hectare site within Gualtallary. The sites terroir is unique because of the Las Tunas River. Thousands of years ago, the river shifted its course due to the rise of the Monasterio hill, unveiling a mosaic of exceptional micro terroirs—each shaped by varying degrees of limestone, rocks, and soil aging. This natural tapestry gives rise to a distinct site that makes some of the finest wine in Mendoza. It’s brilliant and expresses the variety, vintage and soil perfectly.
