Bouchaine is the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley’s Carneros region, they must be doing something right. They trace their history back to the 1880’s, a Missouri-born settler named Quincy Boonfly planted grapes and fruit trees on the property. An Italian winemaker named Johnny Garetto bought the land in 1927 and farmed it until 1961, when he sold to Beringer. And later purchased by Gerret and Tatiana Copeland, along with 30 acres of the surrounding land. Bouchaine is nestled in one of California’s most celebrated appellations making some of the finest Chardonnay in the US. Bouchaine is famous for their Chardonnay and the 2022 Bouchaine Estate Chardonnay is a great example.
Winemaker Chris Kajani is a native of Napa, fell in love with Burgundian varietals on trips to Europe, UC Davis trained and previously winemaker at Chardonnay Star, Saintsbury. She employs native yeast fermentation and ages the wine in French oak to build complexity while preserving the brightness and integrity of the fruit grown in Carneros’ fog-cooled, long hangtime vineyards. This Chardonnay always gets great rating and press. The wine regularly sells for $35 to $50 a bottle. Now for the good news we have the wine down to a crazy low price of 26.99. If you love Napa Chardonnay from Cakebread to Frank Family , you will love this Chardonnay. This is hard-core real deal, Chardonnay at a ridiculously low price.
A true expression of Chardonnay – bright, citrusy flavors graced with only the merest hint of oak. Shows classic Carneros lime and grapefruit styling. A hint of vanilla graces the mid-palate. Its fruit flavors, bright acidity, notable texture (a hallmark characteristic of Carneros Chardonnay), and relentless finish harmonize in an elegant, stylish wine. Straw gold in color, it dances in the glass like sunlight.
A beautiful, pale golden wine. Crisp Macintosh apple, limoncello, and pear fruit notes form the central fruit core. These are followed by a touch of vanilla, ginger and butterscotch – a perfect marriage of bright acidity with rich flavor. The hallmark Bouchaine sueded texture persists in a long lasting finish.
