Red Wine Napa California
Great wines come from great terroir, great vintages and are made by people who know how to make great wine. Today’s wine comes from historic Cathiard Vineyard dating back to 1885 when Scottish brothers James and William Rennie acquired the property and planted 60 acres of vines. Famed Napa winemaker Louis M. Martini bought the property in 1933 and the Komes and Garvey families (owners of Flora Springs) took ownership in 1978. In 2020 the site was purchased by Florence and Daniel Cathiard, owners of the legendary Bordeaux, Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte, renamed the site Cathiard Vineyard. Found at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains along Rutherford’s western edge, the same place as renowned vineyards of Dana Helms, Inglenook, and Staglin. The Cathiard family brought their famous winemaker from Smith Haut Lafitte, Fabien Teitgen to make the wine. Fabien was named Winemaker of the Year by the Guide Hachette des Vins in 2021, Frances leading wine publication. Today we bring the Cabernet based Cathiard Vineyard Hora Red Blend 2021, a great napa vintage (97pts WS; 95pts WA), that is coming together superbly. This miniscule-production got a huge 97pts by Decanter, we have great price $88.99 down from $129.99, awesome concentration and all silk and satin. Please enjoy!
