Owned since 1903 by the Cuvelier family who also owns Léoville Poyferré. Surrounded by prestigious neighbors (Château Cos d’Estournel and Château Montrose).  First belonged to the Merman family, powerful Dutch brokers, throughout the 19th century and was bought in 1903 by Paul-Henri and Albert Cuvelier. It has been in the family ever since with Didier Cuvelier at the helm. Renowned for their remarkable ageing potential, Saint-Estèphe Bordeaux evolve beautifully over time, gaining in roundness, finesse, and aromatic complexity. These characterful wines flourish in the cellar, whether for a few years or several decades, gradually revealing their full depth. The average age of the vineyard is 50 years, with most of the best plots planted just before the Second World War. The vines become less productive as they age, allowing us to focus on quality rather than quantity. The wine is made by Isabelle Davin, who is also winemaker at Château Léoville Poyferré, passes on all her know-how with the same exacting standards.
