2021 Robert Biale Vineyards Black Chicken Zinfandel Napa Valley 750ML
2021 Robert Biale Vineyards Black Chicken Zinfandel Napa Valley 750ML Showing the influence of the breezy and fog-laced Oak Knoll District, the 2021 vintage offers rich, plush fruit, delicate acidity and a structure defined by well-ripened tannins. Layered notes of black cherry, raspberry, sandalwood, bergamot, cloves, blueberry, and balsam on the nose. Delicate, yet rich with plum compote, violets, and baking spice on the palate. 2021 is an ideal vintage of the Black Chicken that will continue to improve in your cellar.
For over 75 years, the Biale family has been growing Zinfandel on their farm located on the outskirts of Napa. As a young man, Aldo Biale was exposed to the realities of agricultural life in the Napa Valley and he decided to try his hand at making some homemade wine and sold it to a handful of customers throughout the area. However, this was a secret operation, so Aldo came up with the code name “Black Chicken” for those people who were interested in buying some of his homemade juice. At that moment, the legend was born.
Fast forward over a half century, and Biale has definitely grown into somewhat of a cult figure in the world of Zinfandel. The Robert Biale ‘Black Chicken’ Zinfandel is one of the elite Zins made today rivalling the likes of Marinelli and Turley. Utilizing the oldest unirrigated vines from the Biale ranch in Oak Knoll this wine has become a Napa legend. The Black Chicken shows more refinement than its counterparts that I can best describe as an elegant monster. The “Black Chicken” definitely rules the roost.
