2019 Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino 750ML Poggio Antico’s high-altitude vineyards are almost dead center in the appellation. They are characterized by constant breezes – both from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and Monte Amiata to the southeast – as well as significant diurnal temperature differences. Incredibly fragrant, delivering quintessential aromas of perfumed red berry, blue flower, new leather and forest floor…full-bodied, with great, delicious fruit flavors that range from ripe red cherry all the way to mature plum. Spicy notes are ubiquitous. Also has great energy thanks to good acidity levels and taut but refined tannins. Exhilarating, opulent and vibrant.

There is no question Brunello has turned out a great vintage in 2019, rivalling the finest ever from this famous region. Many great winemakers are comparing it two greats of the past 1998 and 1990. This allows for extended hang time and perfect ripeness allowing the Sangiovese Grosso to shine especially in great vintages.
