Red Wine from California, United States
Some of the greatest value Napa cabs I have found have come from a dynamic young man in Napa, Trevor Sheehan. We had lunch in the town of Napa and he tasted me a bottle of wine that had no label on it. It was hard core Napa Cab and when I heard what I could pay for the wine, I was blown away. Trevor Sheehan is a master at finding small lots of unused juice from some of the very finest Wineries, buying it out and bottling it himself. I do know that this Winery where this was sourced from sells Cabs for $100 plus a bottle. His wines are normally always great value for money but he has out done himself with Octopoda Napa Cabernet 2022. The name was chosen to highlight the wine’s characteristic of having a layered and complex flavor profile, to convey the depth and richness of this wine much like the tentacles of an octopus. This wine absolutely rocks for the money. This tastes expensive with that pedigreed bouquet of glorious black fruit and the perfect amount of small French oak. The palate is rich and refined with awesome fruit, superbly rich but not clawing, velvety smooth with tannins that tickle. If I tasted this wine blind I would say easily three times the price. Only 350 cases made. Excellent value for Oakville Cab. Grab your case today and taste the difference.
