Palacio del Burgo Crianza Rioja 2022

Wow! This absolutely rocks for the price point. Very few places in the world make such great quality at such a low price.  From the first sip, it achieves that perfect balance of bright red fruit, subtle oak, and firm structure. It’s vibrant, it’s polished, and it’s effortlessly drinkable without feeling one-dimensional. This is spectacular Rioja that got a huge 95pts by Decanter AND Gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards of 2025. The wine is brought to us by Bodegas Burgo Viejo, a house that I am a huge fan of. Started in the 1950’s,  the modern incarnation of the winery was established when six local farming families merged their vineyards and expertise. Today’s great value comes from one of their Signature labels. The Palacio del Burgo Crianza Rioja 2022 really overdelivers for its modest price, easily outcompeting far more pricey interpretation. Perfect for everyday use and all occasions. It is far more challenging to find wines under $20 that are well-made and delicious, as opposed to more expensive bottles where quality is expected.
