A distinctive expression of Barossa Valley’s rich winemaking heritage, Thorn-Clarke Single Vineyard Mataro is crafted from carefully selected fruit grown in a single premium vineyard. Showcasing the varietal’s bold personality and regional authenticity, this elegant wine combines concentrated fruit, savory complexity, and refined structure, offering a truly memorable tasting experience.
Deep ruby red in color with vibrant garnet hues, it opens with expressive aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, plum, and wild raspberry, layered with notes of cracked black pepper, dried herbs, licorice, earthy spice, and a touch of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a velvety texture, revealing rich flavors of dark berries, black plum, cocoa, and subtle savory undertones. Fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity provide excellent structure, while carefully integrated oak enhances depth and complexity without overpowering the wine’s vibrant fruit character.
The finish is long, smooth, and elegantly persistent, leaving lingering notes of black fruits, warm spice, cocoa, and delicate earthy nuances that reflect the purity of its single-vineyard origin.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with slow-roasted lamb, grilled beef, braised short ribs, game meats, charcuterie, aged cheeses, and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
Serving Suggestion: Best served at 16–18°C. Decant for 30–45 minutes before serving to fully reveal its expressive aromas, layered complexity, and refined structure.
