2013 Col d’Orcia Brunello di Montalcino Nastagio The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Nastagio is released six years after the harvest as if it were a riserva. Another difference between this wine and Col d’Orcia’s annata expression is that Nastagio is aged in French 5-hectoliter tonneaux instead of larger oak casks (as large as 75 hectoliters). The smaller oak vessels mean that this wine is more robust and textured overall. Don’t forget that the 2013 vintage is naturally endowed with more power, structure and aromatic intensity to begin with. This wine is packed tight with blackberry and dark cassis aromas followed by spice, tobacco and toast. Drink 2020 to 2035
