2013 Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Atalayas Vin
2013 Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Atalayas Vin, Aromas of saline, apple cider and oak suggest moderate overall quality. This has a creamy, heavy mouthfeel and flavors of melon, apple and caramel. An oaky finish feels resiny and tastes woody and sweet. MICHAEL SCHACHNER
This Chardonnay is from the Atalayas vineyard in Casablanca, the cool Pacific Ocean breezes allow the grapes to develop slowly and elegantly. Part fermented in steel vats and part in French barrels to ensure feshness and complexity. Notes of fruit, honey and a delicate toasty finish, ideal on its own or with food.
As a general winemaking philosophy, in our Cuvée Alexandre Chardonnay we look for elegance, balance, freshness and ageing potential. 45% was fermented in French barrels and 55% in stainless steel tanks. Our Cuvée Alexandre Chardonnay was 100% aged in French oak barrels for 10 months (23% in new French oak barrel, 47% second use barrels and 30% in third use French oak barrel). The result is a well integrated oak with elegant structure to enhance the natural acidity and freshness of this grape. No malolactic fermentation was done.
Lapostolle Wines was founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. Alexandra is a member of the renowned family that has been dedicated for several generations to the production of high-quality spirits and wines.
After visiting Chile, Alexandra and Cyril not only fell in love with the Colchagua Valley, they also detected the enormous potential of the country to produce premium wines due to its exceptional geographical characteristics.
In the creation of Lapostolle Wines, the family has maintained the same absolute commitment with the quality that has always characterized them. Its aim is as simple as it is ambitious: to create world class wines using the French experience and the magnificent terroirs of Chile.
