There is enough reduction present to suppress the underlying fruit. On the plus side there is a lovely sense of tension to the very fresh, focused and overtly powerful big-bodied flavors that possess both first-class volume and precision, all wrapped in a youthfully austere and explosively long finale. The tannins are relatively fine-grained for the appellation but note well that this is a take-no-prisoners example and as such it would be pointless to open a bottle before its 10th birthday.
